Demonstrate that your chemical satisfies environmental regulations

Scientists need to model the decay of chemicals, such as pesticides, in order to predict their behaviour in environmental compartments and for regulatory compliance. Computer Assisted Kinetic Evaluation (CAKE) is an interactive application with an intuitive interface that helps scientists with this process. The decay modelling capabilities of CAKE have been designed to meet the statistical output requirements of the FOCUS Kinetics guidelines and the user interface has been developed so this can be achieved more easily and more quickly than by other methods.

How CAKE works

By default CAKE uses a kinetic model for the initial compound and up to 4 metabolites and determines the model parameters which provide the best fit to the experimental data. It produces a report containing the parameters, graphical displays of the inferred concentration profiles, and additional statistics to help evaluate the quality of the fit. By default the best fit is determined with an iterative reweighting (IRLS) process. It can also use a Markov Chain Monte Carlo (MCMC) optimiser when appropriate.
