Digital Preservation – The Planets Way, April 19–21, 2010, Pontificia Università Gregoriana, Rome, Italy

Wednesday, February 17th, 2010

The final in the series of three-day training events, ‘Digital Preservation – The Planets Way’, will take place in Rome on 19 – 21 April 2010 with the support of the Pontificia Università Gregoriana.

Day 1 will focus on the need to preserve digital objects, address the technical challenges that institutions must face and introduce the Planets framework, tools and services as an integrated approach to digital preservation. The National Library of the Netherlands will present a case study to illustrate the work it is doing to implement Planets.

On Days 2 and 3 delegates will have the opportunity to see demonstrations and take part in three practical exercises illustrating how Planets can be used to develop and test a preservation plan using a sample collection. The Ministry of Culture will consider digital preservation activities in Italy.
