Based out of the Boston area and answering to the CEO, the SVP will manage the VP of Operations in Boston and Washington DC, and technical staff under them. The SVP will have overall responsibility for the successful delivery of all software development & consulting projects managed by his/her staff, technical staff development, recruitment and resource allocation.

The SVP will work closely with the CEO and Sales and Marketing team to develop software project opportunities with existing and new clients, and develop new offerings. One key focus area will be the continued development of Tessella’s technical consultancy offerings. As a senior manager within the global Tessella Group, the SVP will contribute to the development of our processes and business worldwide. You will be working with small teams of highly qualified and talented scientific software developers, delivering complex projects to demanding clients.  You must display natural team leadership skills and be able to earn quickly the respect and confidence of both staff and clients.

You will have a strong scientific background prior to a career in scientific or engineering software development.  Software engineering management experience gained working in a CMM level 4+ (or equivalent) environment for a large software services company, and relevant consultancy experience for multiple clients, is highly desirable.

Regular travel to our operations in DC and to client sites around the US will be part of your role.

Software development project experience in both the discovery and clinical sides of pharmaceutical companies and/or experience of Federal Government-sponsored projects gained with large engineering companies as Prime Contractor would help differentiate your application.

Salary: $150k+
