After a successful twelve months where significant improvements were made to rail services Southern Railways collected the IMech Engineering Award at this years HSBC Rail Business Awards, held last night at the Grosvenor House Hotel in London.

Beating off a number of competitors from around the UK Southern Railway were praised for their impeccable efforts in reducing passenger delays by a marvellous sixty three per cent and service cancellations by an impressive sixty six per cent.

A lot of the credit goes to their prudent investment in TAPAS a computerised system allowing the download of vital train information which can essentially analyse information and detect problems and faults before they actually occur.
