PRESS RELEASE: Tessella supports fusion research at ITER
ITER has awarded Tessella a contract to help review the design of its Control, Data Acquisition and Communication (CODAC) system. Tessella’s experience of software development in fusion research will prove to be invaluable in helping ITER design an effective and efficient CODAC system.
Jon Tilbury, Director of Tessella’s operations at ITER, commented: “We are thrilled to be working on the most prestigious fusion experiment ever carried out. Our previous work at the JET fusion experiment, and other scientific research centres, will help ITER in its goal of producing sustainable fusion energy.”
ITER is a global research project, designed to demonstrate the scientific and technological feasibility of fusion as source of plentiful, environmentally friendly energy. Following on from today’s largest fusion experiments worldwide, ITER aims to provide the know-how to build subsequently the first electricity generating power station based on magnetic confinement of high temperature plasma – in other words, to capture and use the power of the Sun on Earth.
